Greetings from Mariehamn

We have arrived 10.5 in the idyllic and sunny eastern harbor of Mariehamn. Mariehamn shows us its most beautiful face. The people here have welcomed us with open arms and dozens of guests have come to get to know the ship and the crew. We are very impressed with the hospitality of Mariehamn and the people of Mariehamn. It has been nice to come here.

We have left M/S Alpo's home port, Oulu Toppila, on April 29 in icy conditions. We have penetrated through the pack ice zone at the height of Oulu in tow and after getting out of the pack ice we were able to test whether all the goods on deck are properly secured. The wind was about 9ms on the way to Turku. In Merenkukku, we were faced with ice floes, where we had to have a little adventure among large ice floes. We are leaving Marianhamn early in Monday morning. Next harbour will be Nynäshamn at 14.5.

It's amazing to see how seafarers and people on the ground are united by their interest in the ship, its history and what we do. I ask you all to consider the purpose of our trip, to support the defense struggle of Ukraine. The open doors are stops at ports, as a rule, between 12:00 and 14:00 and 17:00 and 19:00.
